Dear members,
You are aware we at UNNATI not only impart Vocational Training but also the cherished values in life, good manners, good character&Conduct, respect to elders, courtesy to be extended to all particularly the elderly, physically challenged, women, children etc. We always tell them to offer their seat in the Public Transport-Bus- to the elderly/physically handicapped/women/children if they do not get a seat and forced to travel standing in the Bus.
Yesterday Shri Ravikumar and Shri Lawrence were travelling in the Bus to reach UNNATI.A senior citizen Shri Sundaram who is an educationist was also travelling in the same Bus but could not find a seat and struggling while standing .Our boys offered him their seat and extended the due courtesy and greetings to him and explained about the training which they are getting.
Moved by the kind gesture of our boys and also impreesed about the good work done by UNNATI, Mr Sundaram came all the way to our centre and expressed his appreciation of the courtesy extended by our students and also lauded the work being done by us to the weaker sections of the society.
This shows that the value education which we have imparted has created an indelible impression in the minds of these impressionable youth which they would observe throughout their life .We are also sure that this will have a multiplier effect in the sense that their neighbours are all seeing these changes and they would also emulate.
The fifth batch is going on and we hope to complete the entire placement process by the second/third week of May.
Members may help us :
  • in getting placements for these students in Garment Factories and also Retail outlets
  • in finding out suitable candidates for the next batch -our criteria being poverty, age 18 to 21,SSLC Passed/Failed.Tailoring only ladies and for Retail Sales both ladies/gents.

Thanks for the notice: great idea.

Ramesh/ Mr Anantharaman: one of the things we should explore is whether
we can find good intake from any of the areas where these NGOs are
operating
in: deserving candidates & I am sure there are many kids being shaped by
them. For those kids too, as well as the NGOs who are working with them,
it would make sense to have someone like Unnati take them to the next
stage , viz a career..

Dear wellwishers &Team UNNATI

At UNNATI, we have now selected 30 students for training in the two vocations Retail Sales &Tailoring.

The batch has already commenced from 1st March 2005 with the first two days devoted to the basic course of ‘Art of Living’ of Sri Sri Ravishankar.

Our members may help us as follows:

  • Spread the message of UNNATI and create awareness among like-minded persons about this unique project, which has so far transformed the lives of 105 downtrodden families.
  • All this requires lot of financial support from one and all.
  • Being the end of the Financial year our friends/wellwishers &their relatives/acquaintances, as a measure of Tax planning, would be thinking of donating to noble causes such as ours, also getting 100%Tax exemption under Sec35 AC/Sec 80GGA.Our earnest appeal would be to help us getting these contributions.
  • If any your friends/relatives would like to contribute their time or visit our center kindly direct them to us.
  • Be on the lookout of deserving students for the next batch starting from 1st July 2005 right from now onwards and direct them to us; we had difficulty in getting sufficient number of applications this time despite our appeals to our wellwishers/friends/Core Team UNNATI and repeated Press releases

Thanks

Dear Tara and Ramdas:

Thanks for your wishes. How are you all doing. Hope
Archana and Avinaash are doing fine. Heard from
Raja/Vidya that you all had a blissful time at Ashram
in December, and the kids especially had a great time.
Reminds me when we would all meet (long time ago :)
at the ashram and have fun.

Aayush and myself are coming to India for Amma's 60th
birthday on Feb 14th. Radhu has asked me to buy a
Digital Camera, and I have bought one from here. It
is a very good camera, in fact I have bought 2 of
those last year (for someone else), the same model. I
will leave the camera in Anandashram.

Radhu and Uma are doing fine. Uma's parents are with

Will speak with you all later.

Dear Members,
It is found that whenever a particular member receives a message and
he/she wants to reply he/she just hits the reply button and sends
the reply .This naturally reaches all members of the group. This is
an avoidable inconvenience to the other members. If any member wants
to send a message to the moderator he/she can send the message to
Shri K.Anantharaman, unnati with yahoo id thangam432000@...
who will immediately attend to it. Similarly if any member wants to
address a particular person in the group he/she can send the message
directly to the person instead of routing through the group, because
any message to the group goes to all the members which can be
avoided. This happens when a member hits the reply button and sends
his message.Ofcourse,if it is a matter of common interest to all
members then one can use the group e mail id.This is just to clarify
and to avoid inconvenience to the members.Thanks.Regards-

Dear Team UNNATI &Well Wishers

We are sure all of you had a good time celebrating the Makara Sankranthi.

At UNNATI we have the good news of getting placements for all the 25 students of the Fourth Batch-Eighteen from Retail Sales and Seven from Tailoring.

We got all placements in record time i.e. within ten weeks of starting the course.

More than that is the fact that our students got a variety of placements such as medical representatives, factory supervisor, Telemarketing wing of Stanchart Bank, Fabmall Retail Chain and the Foodworld Retail Chain with fairly good salaries to start with. The Tailoring group also got jobs in reputed organizations such as Arvind Mills, Gokaldas Group etc.

For all this the credit goes to the dedicated Team of Faculty who trained these students all the ten weeks. We are grateful to each one of them.

We are also grateful to M/S Levis for their Corporate Community Service Grant faculty support, supply of consumables etc. M/S Gokaldas Images have been helping us from the beginning by supplying the tailoring machines and the consumables for the training: we are indeed indebted to them for their response to the cause. We also thank all our donors and well-wishers and also those who have been counseling us in our activities.

Thus we have made a difference in the lives of as many as 105 downtrodden families in the society in the four batches conducted for the past 15 months from Oct 2003 with the multiplier effect that has created in their respective neighbourhood.

Now we are preparing ourselves for the fifth batch, which we intend starting from 1st March 2005.

We require your help in the following:

v     Identifying and recommending deserving poor candidates, age18 to 21 and SSLC Passed/Failed. Tailoring only ladies and for Retail Sales both gents and ladies.

v     Try and help us in continuing the noble cause by donating for UNNATI, which gives 100% Tax exemption under Sec 35 AC/Sec 80 GGA of I.T Act. This will also serve as a part of your Tax planning for this financial year.

v     Persuade your friends/relatives/acquaintances to help us financially by donating a part of their funds set apart for helping good causes; if they are able to contribute their time they may be advised to contact us.

v     Give us the E mail Ids of your above contacts to enable us to send them our appeal.

Coming to the other activities of Sree Guruvayurappan Bhajan Samaj Trust, Thyagaraja & Purandara Dasa Aradana Celebrations are scheduled to be conducted for 8 days from 6th Feb 2005 to 13th Feb 2005 at Odakkathur Mutt Hall, Ulsoor consisting of programmes of Music, Bhajans etc The pamphlets are getting ready and will be mailed to all well-wishers directly.

Saturday Bhajans, Monthly Music Concerts, Educational Help for the poor are the other ongoing activities of the Trust.

I cannot but just appreciate at the thoughtful message sent by Mr. Visal. As we keep getting information about the magnitude of devastation hour after hour, all thought of enjoyment has definitely fleeted away from my mind. When we hear of people suffering mentally and physically having lost their kith & kin and fighting uncertainty from all quarters we need to waken our lost sensitivity and conscience and look for every opportunity to participate in this hour of disaster.

Hence my appeal to one and all is let us take it upon ourselves to pool in all resources that we can and stand up to face this test on humanity.

Let us all pray for a Peaceful and Safe 2005

Regards

Subject: [unnatisgbstrust] Think before 2005

Riding down the busy streets of Bangalore, I saw a number of hoardings talking about the most happening new year bash in Bangalore, Ads in Newspapers, on my mobile and on emails...all saying that its time to cheer and be happy as we enter the New Year.

But, hold back a moment...2004 is not over yet and in its last days it has brought the worst kind of devastation to thousands and millions of people in South East Asia including India. It is time for us the reflect.

Are we going to continue to live our lives thinking of this disaster as some isolated incident that does not affect us or relate to us - go ahead with our new year celebrations or are we going to take up this responsibility and do somethin about it.

This question has kept me wondering. The first thought was that I will not spend money on going to a splendid New Year bash. I can save that money and put it in some relief work. But, then I don't go to New Year Parties anyway.

Hence, I have decided that I will contribute Rs. 1000 of my December salary of Rs. 8000/- towards relief work for the affected people. I have set the ball rolling and I urge all of you to take it forward from here.

It is your choice - a New Year Bash for Rs. 1500 with friends and family or a quiet dinner at home and satisfaction that the Rs. 1500 can help a mom rebuild her house, get some food for her homeless children and a fisherman who can hope to restart his fishing business with this small contribution. You can check out CNBC or NDTV to get contacts of all the organizations that you can send your contributions too.

We belong to this society and its time we came together strongly to say that we are responsible and we have the courage to do something.

I urge you to think and act now!

Pray the New Year is Safe for all of us.

Dr.Reddy's Foundation(DRF)-the social organization of Dr.Reddy's Lab,Hyderabd runs a Program called the LABS ( The Livelihood Advancement  Business School) which has created a very organized model for training youth(age group aboive 18 years) from poor backgrounds- getting them to go through a very organized training for three months and then getting them employment thereafter.Their methodology is very proven and they operate a partnership model.

I would recommend that Unnati tries to collaborate with them if it makes sense. They have trained more than 15000 youth so far in the last three years.

I can connect you up with the people at DRF.Their web site is  www.drreddysfoundation.org .They have a program runnning at Peenya.

Subject: [unnatisgbstrust] First message to the yahoo group of 164 persons.doc

Dear Well Wishers and the members of the core UNNATI Team,

Happy Christmas and happy New Year

Till recently we were sending periodical updates of UNNATI project to the members of Core UNNATI Team using outlook express. It was a little time consuming and cumbersome and we could communicate with only a limited number of persons.

We have now created a Yahoo Group called unnatisgbstrust through which we can send the updates to all our well wishers and core members of UNNATI Team easily at one go.Moreover the members also can send messages and there are lot of useful features in the Yahoo group.

As many of you know, we have already completed three batches and trained 80 students and placed them also in suitable organizations. Thus we have already made a difference in the lives of eighty families and also have created a ripple in their respective neighbourhood.

We are now in the midst of the fourth batch with 25 students. The classes started from November 2004 and we are likely to complete the training by the third week of Jan2005.

We would request you to help us in the following:

  • Be on the lookout of suitable placements for the Tailoring students in Garment Factories and for the Retail Sales students in Retail Chains / small enterprises/establishments and inform us so that we can contact the prospective employers.
  • Try to help us in getting suitable candidates for the next batch likely to start from March 2005.We select the youth from the poor sections of society, age 18 to 21 and SSLC passed or failed. For the tailoring vocation we select only ladies and for Retail Sales both gents &ladies. Children of servants/Drivers/Watchmen and other deserving students from your neighbourhood. You may advise the children or their parents to get in touch with us.
  • Try to help us in our financial requirements .As the donations to UNNATI project of SGBS Trust are exempted to the extent of 100% under Sec35AC/Sec 80GGA(Cheques to be drawn in favour of SGBS Trust) your contributions will help in Tax Planning.
  • Try to persuade your friends/relatives/acquaintances to contribute to the UNNATI project. If E Mail Ids are given to us we will send our appeal to them.
  • If any of your friends/relatives/acquaintances could contribute their time in teaching the students you may inform us and also request them to contact us.

You may be aware that the 7th Year Shardotsav was celebrated in a grand manner from 4th Dec to 7th Dec 2004.

The monthly musical concerts are also conducted every month.

Weekly Bhajans are also going on.

The Aradana of Thyagaraja and Purandaradasa will be held in February 2005 as usual.

Thanks.

Regards.

Dear Ramesh,

Regards

Ravi

Dear Mr. Ramesh,

Thanks for your message, I shall certainly spread the word around for placement and new candidates. By the way do you have a soft copy version of brief CV of the fourth batch candidates-esp. the retail trainees so that it would be easier for me to approach my contacts for placement.

Kind regards,
Raghavan Krishnan

Thanks.

Regards.
