We will be building a house in Wisconsin, USA this year. We would
like to attach a greenhouse to it. This would have to be on the south
side of the house, to get sun. In fact, the only available spot for
it will be the western end of the south side of the house, with an
entrance into the greenhouse from a door in the SW corner of the kitchen.
I have read that an extension of a house in any place other than
the NW corner of the house is very bad. However, having this
greenhouse will allow us to gather quite a bit of heat that can be
brought into the house in cold weather, and also enable us to grow a
lot more food. (In the winter, Wisconsin is very cold, and the
outdoor growing season is rather short.)
Do you think that a greenhouse attached to the west end of the
south side of our house would be harmful? If so, is there something
we can do that will remediate the problem?
Thank you,
Shivani A.
