In response to my question about a greenhouse attached to the west end
of the south side of a house, Njitinn wrote:

The thing is that the greenhouse must be attached to the house if
you are going to open the door between the two during the day to heat
the house in winter, and on cold nights to keep the plants in the
greenhouse from freezing.
This is in Wisconsin, where it gets to -25 degrees in the winter.
We have to do things very differently here than in India.
Hard times are coming, and electrical service and heat from
propane, etcetera will be more and more expensive, and perhaps become
unavailable. The price of food will keep going up, too, and it will
be harder to bring food from distances. If you want to have food, it
will be very good to have a greenhouse where you can grow things in
winter.
Because of all this, I think we will build this attached
greenhouse. So please tell me what can be done to balance the energy
of having it there, attached to the house?
Thank you,
