You asked for more details about the property we were considering that has land sloping up to the north behind the house. We have found out that there is no woods there, which we will need in order to heat with wood, so we are no longer considering this particular site.
However, we would very much like to know more about how serious a defect land sloping up to the north is, and what may be done remedially in such a situation, as the area where we will be moving to is very hilly and many of the homes have this situation. (On the opposite slope, sloping up to the south, there is not enough sun to grow things well, and it is terribly cold in winter, so people tend not to build there.)
