Hi Bruce,
I advise you to have a geological cross section as well.
From c/s:
- First, differentiate between aquitards and aquifers.
- Join similar geological layers (aquifers and aquitards) into a single layer
called hydrostratigraphic unit or layer.
- Try reducing layers.
- Finally, u will come up with layers of the model.
- Decide areal extent of the model.
- Choose no flow boundary condition, if any of the layer is in contact with
basement(physical boundary of the model).
- Choose constant head boundary on the other sides of the model boundaries if
the effect of the stresses will not change the head.
- See where the recharge is possible (out crops) and choose those areas as
recharge boundary condition.
With more information coming, you can update your conceptual model.

Hi, Im at the conceptualisation stage of a groundwater model. I have a
geological map and would like to derive some basic system concept from
it.
can anyon give me some guidance on this?
Thank you.
