Shreya Ghoshal speaks: When I first met Shantanu and heard his
tunes, I knew that this person is going to make news. He has a very
different style of his own. His music arrangement is such that he
never fills too much of music in the songs. His songs get the
presence of voice and expressions through voice as much as possible.
He uses the least number of instruments. After Yahaan, one day he
called me and said that 'I am doing a period film and there is one
song for you'. Parineeta was important for me as it was based on a
classic novel, a Bengali period film. Pradeep Sarkar-ji, whom I had
known as a great ad-film maker. Vidya Balan was also a known face
for she was in the ad world. In "piu bole", there were very few
words in the song and it was like a song was being made by the
characters, like Sonu-ji is humming the tune and I am filling the
words. The song had to be playful as the characters were playful in
this song. Everyone asked me to give more expressions. But I got
afraid because words were too less, so how much I can put
expressions in it I did not know. Everybody contributed in the song
and advised me that "piu bole 'word' ko khelo". So far, its one of
my best songs.

Shreya Ghoshal speaks: He is a very different type of composer.
In "yeh hawaayen gungunaaye", that begins with Sonu-ji, is very
sweet song. I love the way Shantanu has put the sound of the train
in this song. And the voices of the children in "kasto majaa hai" is
also very sweet. My part in this song is of a serious lady though
(laughs).

Shreya Ghoshal speaks: "poochhe jo koi meri nishaani... naam adaa
likhna", there is something in this song that pulls me towards it.
Not the words, not the music, not the singing, but in totality this
song has been a perfect one. It is one of my songs that I would like
to listen to.
