its so sad that these famous RJ's twist stories and present to the listeners. It was always a story ( almost the truth ) that that Shailendra had some problems with SDB , much before making the song. Gulzar was called in.
Now after this FACT, there are two diversions between the people who lived in that era - One was that Gulzar wrote the full song. Second is that Gulzar wrote the mukhda and by that time SDB-Shailendra patched up. Shailendra wrote the antaras and he liked the mukhda and told everybody that it should remain as Gulzar's song
