How to determine if a mirror is 2 way or not (Not a Joke!)? Not to
scare you, but to make sure that you aware. Many of the Hotels and
Textile showrooms cheat the customers this way & watch privately.

HOW TO DETECT A 2-WAY MIRROR?


When we visit toilets, bathrooms, hotel rooms, changing rooms, etc.,
How many of you know for sure that the seemingly ordinary mirror
hanging on the wall is a real mirror, or actually a 2-way mirror i.e.,
they can see you, but you can't see them. There have been many cases
of people installing 2-way mirrors in female changing rooms or
bathroom or bedrooms. It is very difficult to positively identify the
surface by just looking at it. So, how do we determine with any amount
of certainty what type of mirror we are looking at?

CONDUCT THIS SIMPLE TEST:
Place the tip of your fingernail against the reflective surface and if
there is a GAP between your fingernail and the image of the nail, then
it is a GENUINE mirror.

However, if your fingernail DIRECTLY TOUCHES the image of your nail,
then BEWARE, IT IS A 2-WAY MIRROR! (There is someone seeing you from
the other side). So remember, every time you see a mirror, do the
"fingernail test."  It doesn't cost you anything. It is simple to do.

This is a really good thing to do. The reason there is a gap on a real
mirror, is because the silver is on the back of the mirror UNDER the
glass. Whereas with a two-way mirror, the silver is on the surface.
Keep it in mind! Make sure and check every time you enter in hotel
rooms. May be someone is making a film on you.

     I will be very much happy, if atleast one of group member is
mobilized because of these mails.   Nice to see that, u r also against
reservations :).. When I compare with number of mails which r coming
to each IITBian me on reservation, these mails are nothing. I just
wanted to show the intensity with which people (IITBian, Medicos,
etc..) are protesting against reservations for the better india. I
thought, u people also contribute to the same  atleast by
spreading/forwarding these mails.. that made me to send these mails to
the group... and I dont have intension/fashion of spamming other mail
boxes for sure...  From next time, if u have any suggestion to me
please send them personally to me and dont spam the entire group.... I
hope, u will take this positively......

Just to add this, the situation of Andhra Pradesh is still worst.... No idea
whether this is there in other states also..

   All the reservation said above exist...

   After romoving all the reservation seats.. Assume 6 seats are remaining in the
general category...

   And if by chance the top 6 rankers are from OBC .. These students  will be
allotted the seats from general  category though the OBC quota seats are free...
which means the so called uppper caste may get 0 seats...

   As per the rules in AP.. the general category seats are to be filled up first
before filling any reservation based seats..

   To add to the woes of the so called upper caste people..  assume the 6 OBC
students who took the above mentioned  6 seats.. in second phase of counselling
have shifted to other colleges.. then the seats vacated by them must be filled 
by the OBC caste students ONLY...

   How far is this justified..

   "The general seats which are once occupied by OBC, will become OBC
permanently.."  :-(

It might be coincidence but, almost all the OBC students from my BE class were
from a good background. They were equally well as any other general category
person. So what I feel from what I have seen is reservation is not reaching the
people who need it. What is happening is, even inside OBC caste there are
affluent people and these are the people who are taking advantage of
reservation again and again.

And as I read from news, government is not planning to exclude creamy layer
from OBC reservations. So caste based reservation is creating some kind of skew
inside a particular category in which reach gets reacher and poor who doesnt
even have primary education remains poor.

Reservations has noble purpose of uplifting deprived class of people, but I
really doubt caste as the metric for such reservations.

Political parties are just trying to gain political mileage from this
reservation politics without giving statistics of how caste based reservation
is helping needy people.

Let us get some facts here.
The idea of reservations for the OBCs did not come up either from Arjun Singh's
head or any other MP's head or not even from the 104th amendment (not the 93rd
amendment).

In Article 340 in the Indian constitution (right from the day when the
constitution was accepted by our nation in 1950) a provision has been made for
a backward classes commission which is supposed to identify the Backward
Classes other than SCs and STs. And make recommendations for them. Dr. Ambedkar
resigned on the issue in 1951 when the Congress government evaded its
responsibility of implementing this provision.

Two commissions have been constituted since then
One in 1953 and the other one in 1979.
The first commission's recommendations were never implemented.
The second one, Mandal Commission submitted its report in 1980.
In 1989 it was implemented by VP Singh.

The 104th amendment is just meant to nullify the supreme court judgement which
has commented that the government has no right to implement reservation in
private institutes. By this amendment, reservations can be implemented at all
levels and in all institutes, either government or private.

I have a few questions for pro-reservation guys:

- For how long do you need the reservation (Crutches)? 100 years,
500 years or till the time when India gets divided into SC-India,
ST-India, OBC-India, General-India.

- Do you think the people in power (Politicians) care about your
cause/your upliftment?

- Do you think you will earn people respect by using reservation to
get ahead a guy who is equally talented as you are?

- If I have to choose one guy from two to work for me - one has
used reservation to get into some elite institution (Not
necessarily the IITs) and the other without it. Both perform
equally good. Whom do you think  will I choose?

No solution is Time-proof. Reservation was a solution 56 years
back. It may have been beneficial then but a solution should change
with time (Including rejecting it completely).

I have never seen the country so divided. May be our generation has
missed out the 1947 partition but it seems like we are not going to
miss it again(If things go on like this)
If people in an elite educational institute like IIT Bombay get
divided because of an issue raised selfish Old politcian then it
seems that we have missed LEARNING something.

     Government is saying that the reservations issue is settled. Today, Arjun
Singh gave an interview in which he stated that

there won't be any increase in number of seats and the quota will be increased
in 'one go'. Read the news here:

     This is a ridiculous step and we should not stop our protest at any cost. We
have decided to have protest on sUNDAY MAY

28, FROM 4:00 PM TO 8:00 PM IN AZAD MAIDAN (near C.S.T. Station). There will be
students from other colleges also. We are

aiming at bringing 10000 people for the protest. Though looks a big number this
is not at all impossible. Everyone convince

people around you and bring a big group with you. Come on, we have to unite.
Wake up guys!

     If we don't protest, then next time government will bring the reservations
in private sector. Or may be they can increase

the quota upto 70%. This is not an exageration. In Tamilnadu already there are
69% reservations. So, this is very much

possible. Reservations issue has become a trump ace for government. Whenever
they feel scarecity for popularity or votes they

increase reservations. Rubbishhhhh! If we manage to gather 1,00,000 people in a
month or so, government will be really under

pressure. But, for that everyone has to work with great motivation. Come on,

Around 20 students of IIT Bombay are on Hunger Strike for protesting
the congress led govt policies to hike reservation in Higher education.
We want
1. roll back the present hike policies of govt.
2. to review the present educational system which include mainly
primary & secondary education.
3. To setup a nonpolitical judicial commitee to assess the results of
