WWF-India Maharashtra state office has in the past six months done a number of proactive projects. The one that gathered a lot of media coverage was the "Survey of lakes in Mumbai" the study has revealed that there are 69 lakes that can be of use to man if conserved. The office has also been studying the biodiversity of the IIT-Bombay campus and has recently undertaken the project "Inpact of SEZ on Bird migration in Uran". Apart from the projects a number of camps were conducted to Ranthambore, Great Himalayan National Park, Materan, Wild life places in Coorg district. On the ocasion of Wetlands day a nature trail was also conducted along the Powai lake in addition to the trails at Byculla zoo, SGNP, S.K.Patil garens, etc. The highlight of the one day programs was the earth hour event where in large number of individuals participated in the global event on 28th March. On the International biological Diversity day a Photographic exhibition of Alien Invasive species was held in the office premises.

The activities lined up in the comming months are film shows and slide shows. Nature trails to Jumapatti Neral and Mahuli in July, Tikujiniwadi side SGNP in August, Sasupada in September, Horniman circle in October, yeeor patonapada in November and Shewri mangroves in December. Camps to Lonaval in August, Mahabaleshwar in September, Pulikat lake, pt.calimer, top slip in October, Phansad in November and Nagzira-Navegaon in December. In addition there will be beach cleanups in September. You need to look out for the State level Panda Festival of Environment in December.
