      Hare Shrinivasa!
The Vishnu-Sahasranama of the Mahabharata carries great authority because it is the essence of the Mahabharata, which has great weight, as determined by Chaturmukha-Brahma.

Vishnu sahasra Nama is the most famous amongst all sahasra namas.
Viswam denotes both Vishnu and Vayu.
      Whereas Vishnur denotes only Vishnu.
      Bhishma's dying declaration is directed
at that Vishnu who is indweller of Vayu.
There is no twisting as Sri Pavan writes.
As a comparison other Sahasra namas like Rama Sahasra nama, Krishna Sahasra Nama published by Lifco company may be referred to.
