Group Description

The Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGICL) is constructing 400-KV high tension power transmission lines from Kaiga Nuclear Power Station in Karnataka State to Kozhikode/Calicut in Kerala State via Kodagu District of Karnataka State in India. Around 50,000 trees could be felled to make way for the 400KV high tension power line. The 400 KV line will start at Kaiga and enter Kerala State after passing through Mysore District and Kodagu District. The power line passes through forests in Mysore and Kodagu. People of several villages in Kodagu are opposing the project saying they will lose their land. It will cause diseases in people and affect environment. PGCIL is being urged to change route of power line. This description will be fully updated as soon as possible.
